Soundwave Sundays – Be Gentle
In what is now my frequently infrequent Soundwave Sunday series, I tread very lightly over some gentler music as I nurse a slight hangover following a party last night.
The party got a bit wild in the later stages with a blast of old-school dance and happy hardcore, cranked up loud and paired with some frantic dancing, and of course, way too much alcohol. Now my aging body and brain are making me pay the price and reminding me they just can’t keep up like they used to.
This week’s theme, as a result, is ‘Be Gentle’. Nothing too strenuous on the eardrums and a harking back to those sort of lo-fi and trip-hop sounds you’d hear on T4 (is T4 still a thing, or did they scrap it?) in the days when June Sarpong and that Welsh fella presented the usual hangover programming that everyone would end up having on during the dying stages of the afterparty from the night before.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a selection of songs that are upbeat enough to motivate you to pull yourself around but not so hard as to make your head explode.
Mylo – Need You Tonite
AIR – Playground Love (feat. Gordon Tracks)
Telepopmuik – Breathe
Moby – Porcelain
Smoke City – Underwater Love
Moloko – The Time Is Now
